Aare/Old Aare

Overview: As Aare declined, some of its citizens were able to emigrate to what became Aarenis and eventually into the Eight Kingdoms. Additional citizens fled Aare's fall, but only a fraction managed to survive. Most of these refugees settled in Aarenis and set about recreating a new Aare. However, those desiring more opportunity and wishing to avoid a possible return to Magelord rule, moved to Prealith. Over time they blended in with the other groups, though it is possible to find Prealith citizens who would easily pass for the citizens of Aare at its height.
Player Characters: Player characters with Aare heritage can play any non-magical class or as a cleric.

Locations: Old Aare is largely unpopulated. Most of those with Aare heritage live in Aarenis with a significant population in Prealith. This population includes a significant number that settled in what later became the Robber Coast and Slavers' Bay. Elsewhere, Aare descendants have been absorbed totally by the local population.
Known Characteristics: These people made up the non-noble part of the population of Aare.
Rumoured Characteristics: It is rumoured a cult/organization was established and still exists. One school of thought has it trying to restore Aare to its former glory while the opposing view has the cult's aim to track down and assassinate Magelords. It is also believed there was a group of Aare wizards that rivaled the Magelords in power; but they lost in a struggle for power and were wiped out. A small group of devout Aare clerics still supposedly dwell in the ruins of old Aare.
